Hello!

Welcome to Sis-snow-phus!

A 2 Player Game of button mashing, Use controls A for Player 1 and L for Player 2!

Try to push the snowball to your team flag to win!

Rules

-Player 1 uses button A

-Player 2 uses button L

-Players must mash their corresponding button as fast as possible to overpower the other player

-The Players may not interfere with the other while playing

-Players MAY NOT punch a hole in their laptop

-Goal: Push the snowball to your team flag to win!

The idea for the game had originally been a race between the two players where they button mash to see who wins. We made the design choice of button mashing because it would be the easiest way to determine a race. Which was by who was fast and had the stamina to keep mashing.  However, we had the idea of Sisyphus' story and though make them push a boulder to a finish line. Then we realized it may be easier to incorporate loops if they were pushing against the same boulder. So, in the end we decided that we would do this idea instead. The whole theme of the game is based on Sisyphus, and we needed a cool name other than the generic name, so we made Sis-snow-phus. We then proceeded to make it snow to fit the theme and name and have them push a snowball instead of a boulder. We kept the button mashing as the way for players to interact. We made the design choice of using gravity in Unity considering we were using force. Every time a player would click their button, it would add some force going into the direction they were pushing, thus making the snowball move. This in itself was a reinforcing loop we liked, the force was always increasing in a direction, never taken away.  Then on the other hand, when the other player mashes their button, the forces actually cancel out, which is the balancing loop of the game. We thought this is a great idea because it is bringing the progress of the player who is winning back down, slowing their development to win. The main reinforcing loop that would increase without a limit was the slope in our game. We made a slope so that when a player finally was winning, like Same Roberts had said, "It should swing into that player's favor" and that was the reason behind our design choice here, the snowball becomes unstoppable because of the acceleration from the steep height and the player wins. We made the players Red and Blue to simulate opposite teams as well as their own flags. The goal is to make it to those flags, which means you win the game for your team color. we did this so the players understand where their goal is located. We made a retry option as well, just in case the players would want to try again. We made the rules pretty easy and fun because there is really not much else to know, the game is very simple and direct.
